Writing from the Perspective of an Object.

In recent creative writing clubs, we’ve been working on poetry written from the perspective of an object or thing. Here are two examples

My journey begins in a palm,

I hear feet stomping on the ground.

I bloom in the depths of the soil,

cold, damp.

I flourish in the eye of the beaming sun,

The glorious rays blind me.

Droplets stream down my face.

A steady beat.

Drip, Drop.

I am their greatest pride,

A symbol of love.

An immaculate beauty,

When seen by one’s eye.

Beautiful, ornate.

I watch the children frolic

In the glistening green grass.

Freedom, what a brilliant thing.

A great friend I will never know.

Liberty, fun.

I watch while I can,

Before my time comes.

Neglected, death.

By Katherine, Year 8

I was formed in the

Fiery depths of a bubbling volcano.

Burning heat and molten rock

Merged to make

Me

Ice ages came and fell

I am thrown into the rolling depths

Of the churning ocean

My corners curved

Sharp edges chiselled away

Split into tiny pieces

Then the sea drew away, continents formed

And left me

Stranded like a fish on land

On a dry beach

Where you pick me up

Put me in your pocket

Carry me

Drop me

Somewhere far away.
